Turquoise
| | Natural turquoise is found in many mines across the Southwest United States and in several countries of the world, including in particular, China and Persia. Persian turquoise, along with some of the U.S. turquoise, is considered the finest in the world.
Lower quality turquoise is soft and porous when mined, and is often stabilized by the introduction of a resin so that it is suitable for jewelry. It will tend to have a shinier and more "plastic" aspect than natural turquoise. | | | | |
