Yei Pictorial Weaving, C2443

Featured is a fabulous, grand, hand spun wool weaving from the "Lukachukai Yei Area". The artist is unknown by name, but has definitely left an exceptional work of art as her legacy. In the thirties and forties weavers, bought "Navajo Dye" at the trading post and the orange and turquoise is typical of that era. The background color is a blend of brown and white hand spun wool, there is lovely turquoise corn, and orange accents that helps date rugs that were woven during this period. The Yei figures are holding dancing ribbons with feathers hanging down. In one hand is an Eagle feather and in the other is a rattle. The four directions colors are repeated in the figures, black, orange, blue and brown and again in the dance ribbons, and the skirts of the Yei. This is a superb collectors piece and a must see, the weaving is in excellent condition.
