Anna Mae Tanner 4-in-1 Rug, C1393

This exquisite and finely woven Navajo rug is nearly tapestry quality. This 4 in one Navajo weaving was woven by Anna Mae Tanner and is featured in "The Fine Art of Navajo Weaving" by Steve Getzwiller. He said it was the finest example of a 4-in-1 he had ever seen, and we are likely to agree! Anna Mae, he tells, traded this as a downpayment on a used car in the 1970's. We received this amazing weaving from a private collector to put back on the market. "Anna Mae Tanner, now deceased, was regarded at one time as one of the top 10 weavers on the Navajo Reservation. Her peak period of weaving was in the 1970's and 1980's, a time in which she won many awards at major shows, including the Gallup, NM, Indian Ceremonials. She was best known for her sandpainting textiles. She lived in Oak Springs, AZ, a community south of Window Rock, AZ." (www.canyonart.com)
