The pot was purchased by Byron Jones of Albuquerque, from Maria in the late 1960’s near the end of her active potting career. In 1968, Byron’s father, Byron B. "Badlands in Bloom" This painting was based on a plein air field study. The last rays of sun were shining on the tops of the rocks in this canyon east of Colorado Springs. I had to paint the study quickly before the sun went below the top of the canyon. The last rays of sun created brilliant colors on the rocks, and the cool north light illuminated the shadows. It measures 30 inches by 40 inches.
