When Mae Morgan entered the gallery to sell this rug she was accompanied by her daughters Rosita and Michelle. Her handspun and naturally dyed wool weavings are excellent examples of the Navajo tradition of weaving.
Vintage Teec Nos Pos woven in natural white, gray, black, brown and aniline red and turquoise. Classic beauty has all the design elements of the early weavings and a striking border. Measures close to 4 by 5 feet. Beautiful patina on the weaving an excellent condition.
Vintage Two Grey Hills Weaving- excellent condition this rug is all natural colored hand spun wool. Large size is approximately 5 1/2 feet by 8 feet.
Vintage- Large 1930's Ganado is approximately 5 by 8 feet. This weaving has it all, great colors, great design, large size and handspun natural wool. Natural cream, beige and brown yarn are accented by an aniline burgundy red. Condition is excellent,the weaving has just been cleaned and restored.
Ella Rose Perry weaves beautiful pastel Crystal style weavings. The newest one she brought us last week has all natural handspun wool that is vegetal dyed by Ella Rose, the pink has been colored with the bulb of a Prickly Pear cactus plant.
Woven in the 1950's this Ganado Red rug measures 56 inches by 106 inches. The central pattern has two diamonds and the colors are gray, red, and white. This rug is in very good condition.
The Transitional period from 1875 - 1900 saw the first use of commercially dyed yarns, producing many eye dazzling and intense, expressionistic styles, and began the transition to weavings made for the use of rugs and saddle blankets. This transitional is as soft as a wearing blanket, the simple three color design is contemporary for it's 100 year old age. These weavings mix wonderfully in many environments, classic, western and clean line contemporary. Measuring 55 inches by 86 inches, this weaving is in excellent condition.
