Fragua Storyteller,  POTCF7-7

Chris Fragua of Jemez pueblo has crafted this amusing Koshari clown storyteller. The doll has 2 Mudheads and two children on it's lap. Chris' storytellers are often very humorous, and have many details like toys or animals. This one measures 7 1/2 inches tall.

The title of this amusing little J.D. Roybal painting is called "Bread and Watermelon". An intimate glance into the lighter side of the Pueblo dances. This little gem measures 9 and 1/2 inches by 7 and 1/2 inches that includes the matting and framing, that is 2 and 3/4 inches.

J.D. Roybal was born in 1922, at San Ildefonso Pueblo in New Mexico. J.D. painted in the traditional pueblo style, while adding touches that are distinctively his own. He used symbolic themes with realism and usually added a touch of humor. His sense of detail, beautiful color and gesturing figures make his work delightful and collectible.
