Nicola, Tim

Tim NicolaSculpture artist Tim Nicola was born in 1954. He is from Indian Island, Maine, and is a Penobscot Native. His family are basket makers and he grew up carving wood, painting and sketching. In 1980 he moved to Santa Fe New Mexico and attended school at the Institute of American Indian Arts. Tim went on to become a bronze sculpture artist. His distinctive style is fluid, humorous, and expressionistic.

"Rita with Raised Pot", is a bronze sculpture by artist Tim Nicola. The stylized female figure stands 26 1/2 inches tall and is on an 1 inch metal base. She has a black pot held high above her head, her hair sweeps down her back, and her blue robe has stars etched on it. Done in Nicola's expressionistic manner. Limited edition- 8/25.

"Hopi Maiden with Basket" is by Tim Nicola, of the Penobscot tribe in Maine. His distinctive expressionistic style engages us emotionally. "Dancing in the Wind" is the name of this bronze sculpture by Tim Nicola. His stylized figures are often women portrayed going about daily tasks. In this bronze we see a basket maker dancing in the wind. Her long black hair is sweeping down her back and her robe is flowing in the breeze. The beautiful turquoise patina echoes the natural tones of turquoise stones. Limited edition- 24/30, on an 1 1/4 inch marble base.
