Maria Martinez and her daughter in law Santana Martinez did some collaborative pottery, from the San Ildefonso Pueblo. Featured is a fine example of polished and slip designed work by these two famous women. Measuring 7 1/2 inches in diameter and 6 1/2 inches tall.

Roybal Dancers, COAKT-6

J.D. Roybal of San Ildefonso Pueblo 1922-1978, was well known for his detailed watercolor paintings of Pueblo dancers. Pictured is a Harvest dance scene, with a female flanked by two Kossa clowns. The painting measures 6 and 1/2 inches by 4 and 1/2 inches. There is a 3 inch mat and frame included.

Roybal Original, COAKT-5

The title of this amusing little J.D. Roybal painting is called "Bread and Watermelon". An intimate glance into the lighter side of the Pueblo dances. This little gem measures 9 and 1/2 inches by 7 and 1/2 inches that includes the matting and framing, that is 2 and 3/4 inches.

Roybal-Deer Dancer,  COAKT-3

J.D. Roybal hails from a talented family of painters and potters. J.D. lived from 1922-1978. The pueblo of San Ildefonso in New Mexico was the home of J.D. He is well known for small, intimate and detailed mixed media paintings of clowns and dancers of the Tewa, depicting them with grace and often, with humor.

J.D. Roybal was born in 1922, at San Ildefonso Pueblo in New Mexico. J.D. painted in the traditional pueblo style, while adding touches that are distinctively his own. He used symbolic themes with realism and usually added a touch of humor. His sense of detail, beautiful color and gesturing figures make his work delightful and collectible.

San Ildefonso Pot, POTCSF2-1

This is a beautiful hand-coiled orange clay pot by Cynthia Starflower of San Ildefonso Pueblo. It has lovely, flowing black clay slip painting, and is nine and one-half inches tall. Cynthia is the daughter of Carmelita and Carlos Dunlap. She has exhibited at Santa Fe indian Market.

Nice little hand-coiled blackware pot with an unusual square lip from San Ildefonso Pueblo. Pot is unsigned, and is four and one-half inches wide by three inches tall.

Pot, POTCS6-1

An amazing piece of pottery by master potter, Carmelita Dunlap. Carmelita made few pieces this large, and we acquired this one directly from her family. It is 17" tall; the rim is nearly perfectly round and varies only from 9-5/16" to 9-8/16" in diameter. She became active in 1955, and passed away in 2000. Carmelita's awards, exhibits and collections are numerous; she was included in the Seven Families in Pueblo Pottery.

Large Plate with cut edges by Carmelita Dunlap, CPJW6-1

This large plate made by Carmelita Dunlap measures 14" across the diameter. It features intricate feather designs as well as geometric designs. The cut away patterns on the top of this plate make for a very difficult piece to create, and a very intricate and interesting piece of art work for any collector to admire.
