"Shalako" is a Zuni katsina that is known for its blessing house ceremonies. This is a fetish Shalako, that stands 4 3/4 inches tall. It is carved out of antler and has inlaid turquoise on its robe and as its eyes.

 Seal Hunter and Seal, COAI5-39

Mixed media sculpture and Alaskan carving. A Yupik seal hunter, made out of ivory, fossil bone, and whale baleen. This wonderful carving measues 7-1/2" long. Mark Napowhptuk is a native of the Alaskan Yupik, from Gambell, St. Lawrence island, Alaska.

Zuni Ivory Owl in Tree, CRBI7-20

Zuni carver Ruben Najera is well known for his detailed carvings in antler. Pictured is one of his finest examples. An owl is perched in a tree, looking down on the observer. This carving measures 2" in height.

 Seal Hunter, CRBI7-15

Resourceful, innovative and creative are words that aptly describe the North American, native peoples. The sculpture pictured is a mixed media piece, depicting a seal hunt. The seal is fossil ivory, the hunter is fossil bone, and the stand is fossilized sled runner. All these materials were found on the shores of the island of St. Lawrence, Alaska. This small sculpture has a lot of character.
