Alabaster
| | Contempoary alabaster is a compact form of fine-textured gypsum, usually gray, white or pink in color, somewhat translucent and sometimes banded. The alabaster from England and Italy is generally completely white. Iron, copper and other minerals add color, dependent upon the location of the area where it is quarried.
